Themes > Multi language sites
An alternative way to create multi language sites is to use flags in the banner or in the body of the home page. Each flag has a hyperlink which points to the home page of the site in the corresponding language.
Create you primary project
You first have to create your project in your primary language. Using the Upper banner editor you can teh add the flags to the banner. Place the flags before you make copies of your project for the other languages to ensure they are in the same position in each site. In the folder ´C:\Program Files\WebSite X5 Evolution\Flags´ you can find lots of flags, but you could also use your own images or text labels.
Plant the flags
You can find the Upper banner editor by selecting General setting on the left of the WebsiteX5 screen and by pressing three times on the Next button.
To add a flag press on the ' Insert Image' button (in the red circle). Select the flag for your primary language and place it in the banner. Repeat this process for the other languages you have planned.
For each of the languages select the flag by clicking on it. Six white handles will appear.
Now add a hyperlink to the flag by clicking on the 'Apply a hyperlink' button.
I find it easiest to use the full urls for this so I don't have to think about relative and absolute paths. Use the option 'File or another web page' and open the web page in the same window.
(You can leave the '/index.html' because the webserver will add this automatically).
So for example use:
depending of course on the languages you will translate into.
When you are ready click on Save to save your work before going on...
Creating the alternate language sites
How to create your project for the other languages, the translation process and the export process is described under the WebsiteX5 way but you are not limited to using '/lang1' , '/lang2' and '/lang3' for the folders in which you export your other language projects. Use the names of the folders which you have used when you aplied the hyperlinks on the language flags instead...
