A new version of WebsiteX5! Not just some bug fixes, but lot's of enhancements and new functionality! The guys at WebsiteX5 have realy listened to the community. They have included lots of new features where we all have been asking for…
This means that some of the tips and tricks which are described on this site has become obsolete, but who cares! Version 8 is realy something!

To name just a few of the new features...

General

• A new and fresh look-and-feel... The graphics have been redesigned.
• You can open multiple copies of the program at one time and you can easily copy and paste content and even pages from one site to another.
• The upper banner editor is improved. You can add, for example HTML-code in the upper banner, giving you the possibility to place advertisements in your banner.
• You can now also edit the footer in the same way as the upper banner.
• A site search function is included so your users can search through the pages.
• Testing the site is MUCH faster. The page you are working on is generated and displayed first. The rest of the site is generated in the background...

Text Object

• You can now let the text flow around the images, left, right and center!
• A nice little enhancement is a button in the toolbar which shows width of the text as it would appear on your page while editting your text...
• You can set the height of a text object using the roll over button in the toolbar!

Table object

• The table object is re-designed from scratch and is packed with functionality. You can for example merge and split cells, add images in a table cell, add html-code, let a table roll over the screen...

Images

• WebsiteX5 version 8 has lots of new filters, mask and borders.
• You can now zoom and pan on images.. Very nice! See my picture of Loch Ness on the right. This is just one of the possibilities.

Menu

• You can hide the popup-menu’s and have a link on a menu level. You can also add a link in the menu to a page outside the websites. So the menu functionality is a lot better than in version 7.
• The width of the main menu, the drop down menu and the sub menu can be changed. For the main menu this is especially useful for websites with a horizontal layout.

Mailform

• They have included Captcha functionality and a security question to the mail form object to reduce the amount of spam you receive.
• You can now add an attachment to a mail form, so your users can send you files to you by via your website…

eCommerce

• The shopping cart functionality is greatly improved. You can add a pull-down field to select the size of T-shirt. You can also let your uses select the number of items he or she wants to buy. You can even add a picture of your products. The resulting webshop looks a lot more professional!

Export

• Export is much faster!
• You can create a ‘compressed’ version of your completed website. All the images are processed (filters, maskes, etc.) so the resulting website is much smaller and will be generated more quickly.

New functions

• There’s a brand new Blog function, which lets you communicate with your users. You can add entries to your blog and have your visitors react to your blog.
• Advertising corners. A very nice way to attract your visitors attention.

Expert mode

• For the more advanced users you can now insert custom code in the header and footer of the pages. So there is no need for tricks or for editing the template files to, for example include the Google Validation code or Google Analytics code.
• WebsiteX5 can now generate your sitemap.xml for you, so your site will get a better ranking in Google!
• Code protection is now included in WebsiteX5
